Friends on Friday - Pretty Paisley

Hey lovelies,

Ready for another edition of Friends on Friday? Today I tried something I had never done before, a paisley motif! My friend requested it and so I tried. This is the result:

I used Rimmel "My Denim" for my base (2 coats over a base coat), and then I doodled on the paisley motif with a dotting tool, a toothpick and Essence "Gorgeous Bling Bling" on the accent nails. On the other nails I used Essence "City That Never Sleeps", the gorgeous blue flakie topper.

This was fun and it turned out pretty well! Thank you my friend who lent me her hands!

Review: Catrice "Bring Me Peach" Lip Balm Stick from the LE "Candy Shock"

Hey hey!

Today a short post, but I want to get it out soon, because it's about one of the limited edition products of Catrice. Catrice put two lip balm sticks in their LE "Candy Shock", "Bring Me Peach" and "Sugar Shock". They describe them as caring with a whiff of colour.

I picked up "Bring Me Peach". "Sugar Shock" is a very light pink, so I already kinda knew it was not gonna look good on me. But I had to try out one of them, I mean, look at it! So interesting! (Well done, marketing wise :P)

Ok so how does it look? First: Daylight:

Not impressed. It doesn't even out and it makes my lips look, uhm, dead. (It's creapy!) I think this would look a lot beter on someone with a different complexion. It's just not for me. But how is it in artificial light?

Not bad. Sort of a golden glow, that is much better. It's very subtle, but not unflattering.

So I will only wear this at night ;) It is nice, and it is smooth, and it smells nice :) It takes care of my lips and I can feel that. So overall, even though the colour might not be for me, the formula is nice :)

Purple Up! for Military Kids

Hey lovelies!

Many bloggers announced it already, today we purple up for military kids! Even though I think this is a US initiative, military men and women all over the world have children, so let's all take a moment to think about them, and how difficult it must be if their father or mother is being deployed in a war zone!

Therefore my nails are purple:

The new bottle cap holds the brand name.

I used Catrice "Purple Reign" as my base. This is one of the new Catrice polishes. It's a very pretty purple creme with little blue flakies. Application was easy and it was opaque in 2 coats. On my accent nail, I put some big bling that I got at a local crafts store.

That's it!

Swatch-It Sunday: Catrice "Vanilla Love" from the LE "Candy Shock" and "Quick Dry & High Shine" top coat

Hello dearies!

Today I will show you a swatch and review of one of the new Limited Edition "Candy Shock" polishes "Vanilla Love", by Catrice. Also, I will review their Quick Dry & High Shine top coat. Will it really reduce dry time for my nail polish?

Let's start with the Vanilla Love. I really had a hard time not buying the whole Candy Shock collection,    not only the nail polish. I ended (well up until now) up buying 2 polishes, the caviar (some of my fellow (and more renowned) bloggers don't have them yet! I was sorta proud, although I know I was just lucky) and one lip stick. If I had more money, I would totally buy more. The colours are so springy!

Vanilla Love is a cream pastel yellow, with a subtle shimmer. With all the disappointed bloggers w.r.t. Catrice's new nail polish, I was a bit scared, but my polish love won. The bottle is so pretty, and so is the colour. This polish has a glossy finish. It needed at least 3 coats and even then it doesn't overcome its streakiness. The colour is fantastic though, it makes my hands look super tan and the shimmer is lovely! It bubbles a bit though. That is really unfortunate. Ok see for yourself:

Of course, a touch of nail art could not be left out:

I used tape, NYC "Lavender Cupcake" and a white striper for this.

I topped it all off with Catrice's "Quick Dry & High Shine" top coat. I was curious if it would work and YES it does! It drastically reduces dry time and it is my best top coat so far. Application is very nice, it's so liquid and it evens out immediately. Now I don't have experience with Seche Vite, nor with INM Out the Door (one can only buy that online in my country and I don't want to start, there would be no ending but the end of my funds..), but I would say this comes close! So I'm super happy! It's only 2.99 euros, so pretty cheap, for 10 ml.

To wrap it up: even though application isn't fab with Vanilla Love, the colour is so nice that I still like it. The Quick Dry & High Shine top coat is fantastic. Next week I'll show you my other Candy Shock nail polish and some of the caviar :)

Save The Nail!

Hey beauties!

Today I tore 2 nails... Even though yesterday morning I woke up with a perfect mani, a lot of cleaning made my polish pop off and by the end of the evening only 3 nails were undamaged. I did not have time to stop cleaning, nor to nourish my nails with oil, nor to quickly give them some new polish. This morning I had to hurry to the office and by the time I got there, my nails looked awful and two of them were torn. Luckily I had grabbed some nail polish on my way to the office, but what to do about the torn nails? I had read someone saying something about scotch tape, so I tried it, and it seems to be working! Look:

Now I took tiny pieces of tape and placed it over the tear, folding it around my nail, two pieces per nail. Then I filed away some of the parts that were particularly out of bounds ... Then I applied a basecoat (on top of, and under the nail) and 3 coats of polish (I will review this particular colour tomorrow), finishing off with some top coat (which I will also review tomorrow).
This is the result:

I found it needed a fourth layer of nail polish, so I did and this is the result, as seen from a little further away:

That's not half bad, now is it? I will go to the  drugstore later and try to find a better, and hopefully more permanent solution.. This probably won't hold for long.. But right now I don't feel afraid for it tearing further, so that is good!

Do you have any better solutions for me?

Friends on Friday - Fun with Friends

Hi dearies!

Sometimes I bring my nail polish to my friends and paint their nails. I especially like to do dotticures, because it's fast and fun! Also, it does not make a whole lot of mess, nor does it require too many tools, so I only need to bring minimal supplies ;)

Ok today I show you the first mani:

I used 2 thin coats of W7 "Mosaic", and put 3 stripes with my white striper from Etos, and then placed dots with white long lastin nail polish from Etos. I then took another W7 polish, "Shirley Temple" and placed little shimmery dots in the white. So there you have it, a party mani ;) And blue, for it is Autism Awareness month, after all!

Thanks to my friend, who lend me her hands!

And don't forget to enter our giveaway!

Friends on Friday: Bring me Spring!

Hi!

I thought, well there's a theme! Friends on Friday, where we post our friends' nails! So here goes, a quick happy dotticure that screeeaaams for Spring. (I don't know about you, but where we are it's still kinda winter-ish... Perhaps Sunday will be the first real day of spring, they keep telling us on the weather forecast. I'll believe it when I see it!)

For this dotticure I used Essence "Destination Sunshine" from the Ready to Board collection as a base. Then I made dots with my dotting tool and various colours, which I don't remember.

BRING US SPRING!!

If we all keep screaming this, it might work ;)

Toads 'n Glitter

Hey beauties!

So the other day me and my friend came across a toad, that wanted to cross the road. There was a lot of traffic, and my conscience finally beat my fear and I picked it up and put it down near a pond on the other side! Now this may seem like nothing, but I had never dared to pick up a toad before, so it felt like victory! And I no longer had to worry about the little animal, that was nice too :) No you go and procreate my dear toad!

The mani I was wearing that night, was a glittery one:

Don't worry sweet toad, I will save youuuu!!!

It's Rimmel "Black Out" with a reverse glitter gradient with Essence "Bella", of the Nail Art Twins Reloaded collection. Bella is a beautiful holographic hexagonal glitter in two sizes, with big royal blue squared glitters interdispersed. The blue squares is what makes it different, and it gives it a really nice kick.

I wish I had better pictures, but I should swatch it soon again, over different colours ;) You might be interested, since this reloaded collection is new in stores since March.
