The Digit-al Dozen does Decades - Terrific Twenties

Hello lovelies!

Another month, another prompt! This month, The Digit-al Dozen does Decades! And with my newly-acquired art deco pattern plate, the decision for the first manicure was made: The Roaring Twenties during which Art Deco first became popular. (And since 'roaring' means 'terrific', I had my alliterating blog title, whoohoo!) I decided to give it a little twist though, slightly straying from the traditional black-and-gold designs that immediately come to mind. I did incorporate the two aforementioned shades, but decided that my base should be different, just for the hell of it!

Lava Flow Swatches and Nail Art

Hi dear followers!

Today I want to show you this beautiful polish I picked up the other day, W7 "Lava Flow". It is, like "Salt 'n Pepper", a white jelly with glitters, but this time, not only black, but also red ones! Small black and red hexes and some larger red hexes as well. Here it is:

Then, I decided to mattify it with HEMA matte top coat. It's even better then! Look:

LOVE IT! All of a sudden, it looks so much smoother! Of course, after that, some nail art needed to be done, so I took out my striper and freehanded this:

Let's call it Lava Flow Deco. I love how the glitters look when mattified, and home the glossy black accents spice it up! It looks very sophisticated, all of a sudden :)

Sister Art Deco

Hello beauties!

Today I'd like to share a special mani I did a while back, on my mom and her sisters' nails. They were all "aahh nooo, nothing too flashy, I have to be able to go to work with them, I have no nail polish remover, I'm scared, ok I'll do it but YE BE WARNED!" Of course I never intended to make them look trashy in the first place, and I know very well that older women cannot walk around with flashy designs! So DUH! Hahaha! But I got them all to sit down one after the other and I painted their nails. SO MUCH FUN!

I wanted a warm but vibrant colour base. So that's where Essence "Gorgeous Bling Bling" comes in! (And OMG, gorgeous it sure is! This top pic was taken in direct sunlight, look at that bling!) 

I did a simple art deco-like design in gold (from Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours) with my striper brush from Essence, which makes the nails look stylish and special, without being bang!

Rosy Refined

Hi dear followers!

I have for you another mani inspired by Nailside's art deco design, but then upside-down. I love this so much! I tried it with a vastly different colour this time, namely Catrice's "Welcome to Rosywood", a colour not too flashy, and perfect for the friend whose hands I borrowed for painting ;)

I thought the outcome looked rather sophisticated. I was also pleasantly surprised as to how this design completely masks the fact that the nails are actually rather short! WIN-WIN ;)
