Peachella & Wilderness

Hello lovelies!

Remember when we did manis for Rose? I was torn between many of her manicures and chose to do the pond stamping technique. But I was also very much in love with her Coachella manicure. I was just mesmerized by that colour combo, you know? Now I didn't have those polishes or that stamping plate, but I have similar polishes and a totally different stamping plate, so I just gave it a go!

SiS: Rimmel Space Dust "Aurora" & "Moon Walking"

Hello lovelies!!

Rimmel recently added 5 beauties to their collection, the "Space Dust"s. Anything that is named after something extraterrestrial, I need to own, so when my local drugstore had a 2 for 1 discount, I purchased these pretties. Here are the two I was able to acquire first (the other 3 had already sold out, but I was able to snatch them just before closing time on the last day of the discount, YEAH!). First up is Moon Walking:

Rimmel "Out of the Blue"

Hey there!

Here's a quick swatch of one of the nicest teals EVER!!! A teal creme by Rimmel called "Out of the Blue". Opaque in 2 coats, application flawless. (Taking it off was another tale entirely, but that is not strange for blue polishes).

Nautical Nails

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to show you the mani I did for my weekend of sailing :) One of my dear friends is a sailing expert and she took me sailing on the Frisian lakes :) That called for an appropriate mani:

It is inspired by The Nailasaurus. I used striping tape for the lines, my first time using striping tape! It is amazing stuff... I used Rimmel "My Denim" for the blue,  Essence "Fame Fatal" for the red, W7 "White" for the white base and NYC "Full Metal Jacket" for the gold. I freehanded the anchor with a nail art brush and dotting tool.

What do you think?

Mint Manis for Talia Joy

Hello lovelies,

No FoF today. Instead, we remember 13 year-old beauty guru Talia Joy, who sadly lost her battle against cancer last Tuesday. To remember and honour her, the nail polish community has decided to all wear a mint mani, as it is the last mani she posted on instagram. This is my contribution to this beautiful gesture.

I used Rimmel "Peppermint" and Golden Rose no. 122.

R.I.P. Talia!

Friends on Friday: Dotting the Jade

Hi there!

A quicky post today. These are the Lieutenant's nails, rocking an easy to recreate dotticure gradient. I chose to make Rimmel's "Mystic Jade" extra fancy with the black and gold (NYC "City Blackout" and "Full Metal Jacket"). Here goes:

The Hundredth Post - Celebrating with Preenification Nail Art Water Slide Decals review :) [very pic heavy]

Hello lovelies and welcome for our one hundredth blog post!

We hereby present you Preenification's Nail Art Water Slide Decals!

A while ago, Preenification posted on instagram that she was looking for nail bloggers to try out her nail decals, so I did not have to think twice! Yes please, pretty pretty! So she sent me 5 sets to try out:

Exciting! So I started thinking up designs. The decals come with instructions and are really easy to use. You cut them out, soak them in water for half a minute and lift them carefully off the paper. I used a pair of tweezers to do that and place them on the nails. Make sure your base of nail polish is completely dry before placing on the decals. Then seal them with a layer of top coat. Here goes!

 676
Catrice "Aretha's R-E-S-P-I-N-K" with Essence "Alpha Better Gamma" and Etos white sponged on.

Although soooo pretty, The decals didn't pop because I used white as the base. I tried again over a dark base, so that you can really see the decals in all their beauty :) This is Essence "Prom-berry" with "Cool Breeze" (swatches here):

172
This is Rimmel "Sky High" with dotticure in various colours.

Or, just the decals:

SY - 189
A ruffian with Essence "Prom-berry" and "Hello Marshmallow!"

091
Catrice "Hugo Moss"

110
Our frankened polish "Pocahontas", Aretha's R-E-S-P-I-N-K and
Essence "Upper Green Side"

The beauty of the decals w.r.t. stickers is that they are so thin, they blend into the design as if painted on. It is beautiful. A nice and quick way to prettify your nails! The best way for these decals to pop is to think about the background colour; when too similar, the decals will fade into the background colour. This almost happened in my first design..

I had so much fun with these! They are specifically designed for nails, each decal will fit perfectly while enhancing the shape and length of you nail. PERFECT!

You can buy them here (the ones I reviewed will be up soon).
This is her instagram page for more pretty pictures and she is setting up a Youtube channel and a website up too! She ships worldwide (while based in the UK) and since the decals are really lightweight, it won't cost much :) With one set of decals, you can decorate 20 nails. They're 2 pounds, or 2.50 euros or 3 USD! Cheap and easy DIY nail art :)

I had a great time with these and I hope to review more in the future!

Friends on Friday - Pretty Paisley

Hey lovelies,

Ready for another edition of Friends on Friday? Today I tried something I had never done before, a paisley motif! My friend requested it and so I tried. This is the result:

I used Rimmel "My Denim" for my base (2 coats over a base coat), and then I doodled on the paisley motif with a dotting tool, a toothpick and Essence "Gorgeous Bling Bling" on the accent nails. On the other nails I used Essence "City That Never Sleeps", the gorgeous blue flakie topper.

This was fun and it turned out pretty well! Thank you my friend who lent me her hands!

Toads 'n Glitter

Hey beauties!

So the other day me and my friend came across a toad, that wanted to cross the road. There was a lot of traffic, and my conscience finally beat my fear and I picked it up and put it down near a pond on the other side! Now this may seem like nothing, but I had never dared to pick up a toad before, so it felt like victory! And I no longer had to worry about the little animal, that was nice too :) No you go and procreate my dear toad!

The mani I was wearing that night, was a glittery one:

Don't worry sweet toad, I will save youuuu!!!

It's Rimmel "Black Out" with a reverse glitter gradient with Essence "Bella", of the Nail Art Twins Reloaded collection. Bella is a beautiful holographic hexagonal glitter in two sizes, with big royal blue squared glitters interdispersed. The blue squares is what makes it different, and it gives it a really nice kick.

I wish I had better pictures, but I should swatch it soon again, over different colours ;) You might be interested, since this reloaded collection is new in stores since March.

Swatch and nail art with the new Rimmel

Hello beauties!

Got a swatch of a  new Rimmel polish for you, together with a little simple nail art, that of course could not be omitted. This is Rimmel "Hot Chick" form their Fire Cracker Collection. In artificial light (below), it photographs very red, but in reality it has a pink undertone. Pomegranate coloured, I would say. It is a jelly polish and below there are 2 coats over a base coat:

It is a nice bright and catchy colour, that is very good for the upcoming summer. Below is a photo taken in daylight:

One can see that even though I used 2 coats here, one can still see some VNL (visible nail line), but that is not a big deal for me right now, since I want to do something to the tips anyway. If one were to wear it on itself, one would need 3 layers. The colour on its own does make me feel like fruit and sweets and it makes me hungry ;) . The polish applies really easily and it dries relatively fast.

Here's the 'art' part:

I needed the blue. I thought it would enhance the brightness of the colour and it did. I just sort of freehanded this, since I didn't feel like taping. I used Miss Sporty nr. 320, and W7 silver to do this. The last picture shows the colour of "Hot Chick" best, I think.

This mani was nice and colourful an I enjoyed it a lot. What do you think?

Easter Goodies

Happy Easter everybody!

I NEEDED to do another easter design, because they're so cute, and I wanted to try bunnies. And chicks in eggs. My own nails needed to rest a bit (they're so damaged, I need to take care of them), so I did my moms nails, and gave here a crazy mani (with which she cannot leave the house, haha, they're not really sophisticated this time ;) ):

Whooooooooooooh! BUNNIES! <3

I used Essence "Upper green side" and "I'm bluetiful" for the blue, topped with "I love bad boys" to make it lighter. On the middle finger I added Rimmel "Cutie Colada" from their new Cocktail Colour in a Flash line, to give it more sparkle. The rest I did with stripers from Max and Janet, and some black polish and a dotting tool.

I wish you all a wonderful Easter!
