The Digit-al Dozen's Throwback Week - Negative Space

Hello lovelies!

It's throwback week for The Digit-al Dozen! First I thought I would recreate some of my fellow group members' manis.. but I was hit hard by The Paradox of Choice. Too much to choose from made it impossible. So I decided to do manis from themes that occured before my time in the group! First up is negative space:

Potion Polish "Shimmering Flats"

Hello lovelies!

Yesterday was the first Tropical Day here in The Netherlands, with temperatures north of 30°C, and today is still very very hot indeed, which calls for a polish that is called "Shimmering Flats", which sounds incredibly hot, doesn't it? I googled it and apparently it is some kind of desert wasteland thing in WoW. Apparently this whole collection is about games, lol! I just figured The Dunes, cool, I like the dunes. We have lots of them, they are our natural water defence mechanism and one of our most beautiful spots of nature! I really am not much of a gamer, I stick to Candy Crush and Wordfeud ;)

Now onto the nails!

Weekend Away Manis for me and my friends!

Hi lovelies!

So the season of taking weekend trips has begun. Not that I have many of them lined up, but I had one last weekend, a weekend away with the company I work for, to celebrate its 20-year anniversary! We went to Sneek, a little town in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands that is famous for its perfect lakes for sailing - which is exactly what we were going to do for team building, so I just HAD TO do a mani for that!

Infinititely studded with W7 "Space Debris"

Hello lovelies!

A quicky post this Saturday. I recently purchased a new shade of W7, "Space Debris". I created this mani with it, using tiny studs I bought on ebay. It is inspired by my ring (see second pic):

Space Debris is a hot pink shimmer jelly with lots of tiny holo glitters. It applied nicely, though it was not very opaque. This it 2 coats, but if you want to wear it alone, you might need 3 coats to reach full, non-VNL opacity. I like it, but more in the bottle than on my nails...

Paris Memories 297 - Swatch & Review

Hello!

I already showed you three Paris Memories polishes a little while ago. My mom gave me five of them, so here is the fourth :) Number 297. The nice thing about these polishes is that they are very cheap. And as you can see, they are quite decent. Full coverage in 2 coats and no difficulties with application at all. The wear time was only one day though, which is even short for me! But hey, for such prices, that is ok. It is quite pretty:

It's a nice olive coloured base with a gold shimmer that makes it switch between olive green and khaki. I put on star studs from Action (store) on the accent nail to give it a sort of army look. I quite enjoyed it. It has my approval!

Barry M Ridley Road Texture Polish!

Hellooooo!

I have my very first texture polish! My friend brought it over from The UK. Barry M Ridley Road:

'Nuf Said! It is soooo nice :D Application is nice. You can have opacity with two thin coats as long as you apply it very neatly. I found that is has an awesome sand-like texture with two coats. If you put three coats, it gets more of a bubblegum feel to it. Haha it's so much fun! I added some studs from Action:

And that's it! Weartime with this polish is amazing. It lasted 3 days on my nails. That is super long for me!

NOTD - Studs on Planet Tokyo

Hey lovelies!

Quick NOTD, it's a busy busy day! The title of this post is very promising.. Unfortunately the only studs I found on Planet Tokyo, were on my nails. I will ask The Lieutenant for her experience with studs in Tokyo. Who knows, there might be other than thos in my mani ;)

I am wearing Catrice "Planet Tokyo" from the Neo Geisha collection (I picked up this pretty green for only one euro last week!) and studs from Action's! I did this mani at night, and the next morning, viewing my hands in daylight, I discovered that I had mixed up the gold and bronze studs, oops! Oh well, it's still nice ;)

That's it lovelies! If you read this blog with google reader, please be sure to follow via bloglovin', as google reader will be gone in a couple of days! Eek!

Studded nails part 2!

Hi there!

Today more nail art using studs from Action's! As I showed yesterday, the smal sized studs (SS6) can be used very well on the nails. This is a simple and elegant mani I did using Hunkemöller "Mint Green" and the bronze coloured studs:

Just apply a little clear polish or topcoat and pick up the studs using a dotting tool. Then seal in the design with two layers of top coat and you're done! These nails even survived a day at the beach:

Nail Art with "Made By Me" studs from Action + review.

Hello lovelies!

Today I have a budget alternative to the amazing studs from Born Pretty Store. I found them for 2 euros at Action's. The might not be as nice, but they do the trick! They come in different sizes and are not actually meant for nails, but they work perfectly fine. The size you want to go for is SS6, as seen on the lower right corner of the package:

As you can see, they come in 3 different colours: gold, silver and bronze. There are stars, squares and tiny round rhinestone-shaped pieces in there. Unfortunately the tiny gold studs are a much more yellow gold than the bigger gold studs, so you can't really use them in a mani together. But hey, 2 euros... So this is a mani I did with some silver studs:

It is loosely based on a design by Cutepolish. I tried to get indentations like her on my ring finger, but for some reason, I failed miserably. Still really love the bad-ass look of the studded nail. The rest is not my greatest creation either; My hands were really shaky. But the studded nail is just really cool ;-) The base colour for this mani is Hunkemoller "Vintage Pink" and the black is my  black striper from Etos and NYC "City Blackout". Everything is topped off with Hema Matte Top Coat.

Placing the studs is easy: I just put a dot of top coat on my nail and then picked up a stud with my dotting tool and placed it in the blob of top coat. Easy peasy! They stick perfectly fine.

What do you think?
