Happy New Year! My new year's resolution is getting my blogging mojo back, so I'm starting with a Friends on Friday issue, since I love doing other people's nails so much!

During the holidays I brought my nail art supplies to my family and did my sister's and my friend's nails. I had brought all my cute holiday stamping plates, but had forgotten my stamper. I looked everywhere for a spare, but no such luck. So I had to get creative the old fashioned way! 

I started out with something I had had in mind with Ms. Sparkle's new gorgeous polish "Yasuko" (swatches are on their way).

A while ago, my sister decided that she needed a week to reconnect with nature, so she rented a cabin in the woods somewhere and recharged herself for city life. This of course had to be done while sporting an appropriate manicure (being my sister, she has accepted the fact of mandatory manicures and even let me do some cuticle-bye-bye theraphy ;-) ).

I did my sister's nails and my colleague's nails recently! Both involved holos and stamping - next week there will be even more stamping on my friends, it's a true stampathon! I love it; I get to try out design/colour combos and they get pretty nails - what more could anyone want?

Friends on Friday - PhD Defense Celebration!

Hi lovelies!

One of my dear friends defended her PhD thesis recently. She asked me to do her nails for the occasion, and of course I jumped at the opportunity! 

This is her holding her degree!!! I painted her nails with NYC "Full Metal Jacket" (she was wearing blingy gold pumps!) and then matte stamped with BPS white stamping polish and BC-08 stamping plate. I went for 'festive but subtle' and 'flashy but classy', if you know what I mean ;) 

Her sister was one of her paranymphs, wearing a blue dress, so I subtly matched her nails to both the dress and the occasion, using NYC "A Suitcase and a Donut" and BPS metallic blue stamping polish.

Her cousin was wearing blue as well, but was a little weary of the whole nail art thing, so I just painted them blue. (I'll get her next time! ;) )

I myself decided to wear this as a cheer-on mani!

Yeah, I had a bad nail break.. And no sun, so these are flash pics. This is two coats of Ms. Sparkle "Capricorn" with BPS gold stamping polish.

My friend was awesome. They asked tricky questions and she just knocked it out off the park every single time. So proud! I'm grateful that I was able to contribute to the beautiful day in a small way :)

Friends on Friday - Yay my friend got married!

Recently one of my friends got married! I was super happy that she asked me to do her nails :) She got married in a small ceremony, in a super cute dress, which you can see in the pics. The pictures were all (but one) taken by the wedding photographer, who kindly provided me with the pictures to share.

Remember that gorgeous birthstone polish from last month? Emerald? Well I wasn't the only one who loved it; so did my mom and my friend! So I created some manis on them with it. First up is my mom. There was actual sunlight when taking the pics! Teehee!

Weekend Away Manis for me and my friends!

Hi lovelies!

So the season of taking weekend trips has begun. Not that I have many of them lined up, but I had one last weekend, a weekend away with the company I work for, to celebrate its 20-year anniversary! We went to Sneek, a little town in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands that is famous for its perfect lakes for sailing - which is exactly what we were going to do for team building, so I just HAD TO do a mani for that!

Friends on Friday - PhD appropriate nails

Hello lovelies!

A friend of mine defended her PhD thesis a little while ago, and asked me to do her nails (YAY!). This was a tricky situation; a lot of fashionable stuff is frowned upon, so I couldn't go all out with the nails. However, it was a joyous occasion, so I did want to translate that into the manicure. In the end, I decided to do all nails a dark blue, similar to her dress, but with accent nails of a more festive nature. 

The blue is two coats of Essence "Date in the Moonlight" and on the accent nails there is Essie "Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low" stamped with "Date in the Moonlight" and BP-L029.

What do you think? I was so honoured to do her nails for this occasion; if you recognize the nails; I also did her wedding nails!

Oh and the defense went great and she's a Doctor now!
