Time for another issue of The Digit-al Dozen does... and this month we do December! Not a whole lot of unique things came to my mind this time, so I'm going with the stereotypes, lol! Day one will be Sweater Weather:
I have part two of Ms. Sparkle's Happy Holiday Collection for you, finally! Remember part 1? Like those, these three are also opaque in three coats and need to be smoothed out with NPB glitter food and a coat of Seche Vite for ultimate gloss!
I'd like to close this awesome series of Colour Contrast manicures with some colour blocking. So I went back to the roots of it - to Mondriaan, a fellow Dutchie, who mastered the art of colour blocking a century ago:
Personally I find that one of the most clashing colour combos is purple and green. I was curious to see if I could do a non-Halloween-y, non-ugly manicure using these two colours and... Eureka! I found the magic trick to combining purple and green! It's a blue buffer zone. A blue buffer zone saved the day!
Happy Monday and happy new Digit-al Dozen week - my second one! I'm so very excited about this one, we're doing colour contrasts - which is open to so many interpretations, I love it! I'm starting it off with a cacophony of colours:
Day two of The Digital Dozen Does Vampy! I have a simple manicure today. The photo's weren't all too great - it was late and there was little light left. Plus, my lightbox is broken. So I had to make do.
I'm so excited! I got accepted to The Digit-al Dozen - OMG OMG OMG! I was jumping up and down! If you follow a lot of nail art blogs, you'll know that The Digital Dozen is an awesome group of ladies that come together each month to do nail art around a theme. I've always loved reading these posts, as everybody has their own interpretation of a theme, which inspires me a lot. This month the theme is 'Vampy'. I love the theme, although it proved difficult to come up with 5 very different manicures. But I did my best for you guys and I hope you'll like them! My first mani has purple, rhinestones and negative space...
Today I have three new polishes from a new-to-me brand for you! Three polishes from the College Football Collection by Zombie Claw Polish. Now I don't know a whole lot about football (or, as we call it, AMERICAN football, since football to us is what US peeps call soccer ;) ), except for touchdown and quarterback (although of the latter I only know that they're usually the most popular in school and have a bitchy girlfriend, but what in the world their function is, no idea!)
It's called "Double Bluff" and it's a real stunner. I paired it with some simple black stamping using on of the BC plates and BPS black stamping polish. "Double Bluff" is opaque in two simple coats and applies easily. It has a gorgeous soft linear holo effect and a little bit of a shift in the shade, caused by the beautiful pink shimmer, look:
But my favourite shots are those in direct sunlight:
