The Digit-al Dozen does Books - Papyrus

Hello lovelies!

So books... usually they're printed on paper and what's the precursor to paper? Indeed, papyrus. Ancient Egyptian books were written on papyrus and I had this wonderful plate lying around, begging to be used, so here goes!

Hello lovelies!

I know I've been MIA - I'm currently in the process of moving house and renovating and everything, so life's been kinda crazy! Fortunately I have fantastic friends and family helping me out, or I wouldn't be able to get things done in a million years!

Ms. Sparkle "Girls Wanna Have Fun" - Retro Rewind Crelly Crate

Hi lovelies!

Two facebook groups have come together and organised a limited edition nail polish box: Crazy 4 Crellies and Retro Rewind Lounge. This resulted in a wonderful collection dedicated to gone-by eras. Parrot Polish, Dollish Polish, Polish ‘M, Ms. Sparkle and Supernatural Lacquer all took a decade and went nuts and I have Ms. Sparkle's creation today!

The Digit-al Dozen does Story Genres - Mythology

Hi lovelies!

One of my favourite story genres, mythology, is of course great inspiration for all kinds of nail art! I chose this particular design, because I had this awesome stamping plate lying around and I have been wanting to use it for ages. So here's Asian mythology for you.  I based my manicure on no particular myth, but looking at it, it feels like there is a story.

The Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art - Lotus

Hello lovelies!

So I'm still a day behind, and I won't be able to catch up, so on day 4 I present you day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art! Keeping in tune with my floral theme, I decided to think back to when flowers first appeared in art (art which has withstood the sands of time and is widely known). So Egypt and their blue loti sprang to mind!

The Digit-al Dozen does Decades - Feasible Future

Hello lovelies!

Decades - that doesn't necessarily mean past or present, right? Right. So let's skip a whole century from yesterday and see what's ahead of us, or our (grand)children. But at the same time, let's keep it positive, what with all the stuff that's going on in the world right now. Therefore I based this manicure on a feasible theory that brings hope to the entire planet: the theory that it is possible to have the entire world powered by renewable energy in 2090. All of us will have gone green!

The Digit-al Dozen does Decades - Neon Nineties!

Hi lovelies!

I grew up in the 90's. My earliest fashion memories are from the early years of that particular decade, hence I chose it to be the theme of one of my manis for The Digit-al Dozen does Decades! I remember a lot of neon and triangles and loud shirts and track suits... Awful when you think  about it now, but actually awesome for nail designs, so here we go!

The Digit-al Dozen does Decades - Swinging Seventies

The Digit-al Dozen does Decades - Sixties Style Icon

Hello lovelies!

Although the novella "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was set in the early 40's, the movie based on the novella, that established Audrey Hepburn as an eternal style icon, was set in the early 60's - at the time it was filmed. That's why I chose this as inspiration for my hommage to the 60's!

Walk like an Egyptian

Hello lovelies!

Remember "Mayan Not-So-Apocalypse" by Incidental Twin? I went rogue and applied it to an entirely different ancient civilization:

Twinsie Thursday - 80's Funk!

Hey lovelies!

Get ready for another Twinsie Thursday with Samantha from Southern Sparkle Nail Art!!

Hello Lacquer Lovers!

I’m back! Yes, I’m back for another Twinsie Thursday! The theme was the 80’s! As a child of the late 90’s I had some research to do, but I hope that y’all like what I’ve come up with! The color scheme was purple, black, yellow, and white.

I used a different technique for this design! In fact, the design had been painted 3 days before! If you have guessed already, I made my own nail stickers! I will have a super in depth tutorial on how to do that on my blogSunday, so if you would like to see that please stop on by!

I used ProFX Quick Dry Top Coat, a unnamed Color Club Yellow, an unnamed Color Club Purple, Wet n Wild French White Crème, Sinful Colors Black on Black, China Glaze Whirled Away, and Sinful Color Clear Coat.

For the index and pinkie nails I painted 2 coats of my base color and 1 coat of China Glaze Whirled Away. For my middle finger I used tape to make a chevron and used my dotting tool with Sinful Colors Black on Black. For my ring finger I used tape to make a chevron pattern and used my dotting tool with Wet n Wild French White Crème and Sinful Colors Black on Black. I top coated and I was off!
I thought it looked very neat with a black and white filter, so I thought you may want to take a look!
I used an artificial white light to show the true colors.

You can see Lothwen's creation here!

Thanks again for having me Lothwen! We will have to do this again soon!

Thanks Samantha! I really love your take on it, and I love how we both thought triangles! Whirled away goes PERFECT with this, good thinking! We will make this a monthly thing :D
