Ms. Sparkle's polish for The Makers Dozen June

Hi lovelies!

I have another Ms. Sparkle pretty for you: a limited edition polish for the new ensemble "The Makers Dozen". The Makers Dozen is a collaboration between 12 makers with a different guest maker joining monthly. They create 13 limited edition polishes every month inspired by a theme and a color. June's theme is Vacation Destinations and Ms. Sparkle chose the northern regions of the planet for inspiration. This is "Hunting for Northern Lights":

My Indie Polish "Nathan Philips Skate"

These items were sent to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Hello lovelies!

The lovely Tanya from My Indie Polish sent me some pretties from her new spring collection! This new collection - "Hello Toronto" - consists of a myriad of different polishes, finishes and shades. It's inspired by Tanya's favourite places in Toronto and judging by the polishes, I can safely say that Toronto is awesome! Today I'll show you "Nathan Philips Skate":

Catrice "Blue And A Half Men"

Hello lovelies!

Today I present you a new Catrice pretty, called Blue And A Half Men. The show it was named after used to be one of my favourites, it's really a shame that stupid things happened on the set over there.. But anyways, it inspired this pretty polish (although naming might have been done after manufacturing...)

Swatch-It Sunday: Essence "Prom Berry" & "Cool Breeze" and W7 "Cosmic Purple" swatches & review

Hello hello!

Today we have 2 new polishes from Essence: "Prom Berry" and "Cool Breeze". Prom Berry is a deep dark purple polish with a little shimmer. And you can totally get away with just one coat, which makes it a true "colour & go" lacquer. I hereby show you 1 coat (in direct sunlight, which truly brings out the gorgeous shimmer) and 2 coats (in daylight):

Now on to Essence's Special Effect Topper! Cool Breeze looks amazing in the bottle, all those iridescent glitters, whoaaa! But it is not as well packed as it seems. However, it does really look beautiful over this purple. This is one coat:

You gotta apply this a bit more carefully, because otherwise the glitter won't cover the whole nail, but it is not hard. Just dab the brush where you want glitter. As you can see, it has both micro and macro glitter in there. It does give it a cool breezy feel.

Now I wanted to try out W7's "Cosmic Purple". This is one coat over Prom Berry:

Cosmic purple isn't actually purple! It's a glitterbomb of fuchsia and blue microglitters, which makes it appear purple. It's really nice and sparkly and applies really easily. And it's cheap :) 2 pounds in the UK, 2.50 euros in the Netherlands (available at Op=Op). In the UK you can also order them online.

That's it folks! The nail art I did with these is part of another post, that I will probably post next week, it is something really different that I am really excited about!

So stay tuned and don't forget to follow via GFC, Bloglovin' and Facebook, so that you won't miss a thing!

Herome Prize Swatches

Hi all!

So sorry for not blogging, we've both been swamped these days... A while back, I was one of the three winners of a Valentine's Nail Art Contest held by Herome Cosmetics. I was beyond myself, hahaha, it was such an honour! I won two polishes from Herome, from their World Inspired Colours: "Helsingborg" from the Fancy Sweden collection, and "Perm" from the Stylish Russia collecion.

Let me show you Perm first... It's a gorgeous gorgeous colour. I applied it on a friend's nails, after an afternoon of succesful shopping :D Lovely hidden sale items for cheap! It can't get any better than that.
Anyway, to accompany this feeling of shopping victory, we decided to try out my prizes :) Both polishes are pink. Perm is shimmery and sparkly and fab:

Artificial Light
 With Flash

Daylight

And that even without the multicoloured sparkle the camera wouldn't catch! So pretty!!
I used two coats of Perm and a topcoat. I'm happy with both the brush and the formula.

Helsingborg is a completely different kind of pink :) It's an in-your-face kind of pink creme, perfect for summer or just when you need happiness on your nails:

Both these pics were taken in artificial light. I used two coats here, but in principle you can get away with just one, it's really opaque! The brush was very nice and the formula applied easily.

I'm so happy with these polishes! They can be found in most Dutch drugstores and online as well.

Tomorrow I'll show the ultra-happy dotticure I did with Helsingborg.

Nightnight for now!

Athena

Whoohoo! Athena's here!

Athena, or Pallas Athena, goddess of wisdom and art and law and war strategy. The wise owl accompanies her on her many journeys.
With wisdom, my mind springs to blue. And being just and strategic screams silver to me :P So here it is!

I first started with a layer of Essence "Midnight Date". It is opaque in just one layer :D Well done Essence! And it's such a gorgeous colour... Bright blue, with a greenish shimmer (that sadly wouldn't be captured on camera).

Then I saran marbled (for a video tutorial, check out Kat's most recent video!) with W7 "Silver".

It came out all gorgeous and shimmery :D Of course her favourite animal cannot be left out, so I used my pink striper of Janet to draw it on, and I used two little rhinestones from Essence for the eyes.

What do you think?

Fever Fingers

Hi!!

We  simply cannot get enough of Fantasy Fire, so we decided to try out a Valentine's mani with it. In case you feel all hot and steamy on Vday, we've got the perfect manicure to go with your mood ;) Lieutenant volunteered her fingers for this:

 Fever Fingers in daylight

 Fever Fingers in artificial light

We used Rimmel "Black Out" as a base, and sponged on some Bourjois "Rouge Poppy" at the tips, creating a gradient effect, and then topped everything off with once coat of Max Factor "Fantasy Fire". This makes her nails look like smoldering embers, don't you think? To make it more valentiney, we added some heart-shaped rhinestones to the ring finger nails. Then we added topcoat to add extra shine and seal in the rhinestones.

What do you think?
