Manis for Rose: Pond Stamping

Hi lovelies!

Today we, a bunch of nail bloggers, led by the wonderful Jessica, present a special manicure for Roselynn of Manicured & Marvelous. She's been struggling with her health lately and we want to show our support  and love by recreating one of her manicures! I've been following her blog for ages and she's a great inspiration. She put the concept of pond stamping in my head, but I had not gotten around to doing it yet. This seems to me the perfect opportunity to try the technique she taught me!

Friends on Friday - PhD appropriate nails

Hello lovelies!

A friend of mine defended her PhD thesis a little while ago, and asked me to do her nails (YAY!). This was a tricky situation; a lot of fashionable stuff is frowned upon, so I couldn't go all out with the nails. However, it was a joyous occasion, so I did want to translate that into the manicure. In the end, I decided to do all nails a dark blue, similar to her dress, but with accent nails of a more festive nature. 

The blue is two coats of Essence "Date in the Moonlight" and on the accent nails there is Essie "Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low" stamped with "Date in the Moonlight" and BP-L029.

What do you think? I was so honoured to do her nails for this occasion; if you recognize the nails; I also did her wedding nails!

Oh and the defense went great and she's a Doctor now!

Remember my friend, who got married, whose nails I did? She sent me two wonderful photos that were taken by their photographer Tiemen Eskes. Rather than adding them to the previous post, I felt they deserved their own post. Now although the pictures are not mine, I still added my watermarks, because you know, sometimes people steal and the work displayed is still mine ;) But I gotta say, it pained me to alter these beautiful photos a lot...

The 1st King's Day (Koningsdag)

Tomorrow we will celebrate Koningsdag in Holland, or King's Day. We'll celebrate the birthday of the King, King Willem Alexander, which is actually on Sunday, but since that is the resting day, the festivities have been moved to Saturday out of respect for religious people. This will be the first King's Day, since his coronation last year, on the last Queen's Day of our former Queen Beatrix, who signed her abdication that day. Now of course all this needs to be commemorated with a mani, hence this:

Mint Manis for Talia Joy

Hello lovelies,

No FoF today. Instead, we remember 13 year-old beauty guru Talia Joy, who sadly lost her battle against cancer last Tuesday. To remember and honour her, the nail polish community has decided to all wear a mint mani, as it is the last mani she posted on instagram. This is my contribution to this beautiful gesture.

I used Rimmel "Peppermint" and Golden Rose no. 122.

Another Nail Idea for a Job Interview

Hey beauties!

Today I had an assessment at a company. It was exhausting, but it went well. I will show you my mani:

This is just a tape mani with white polish, topped off with Essence Pro White Rosé, to brighten my nails, since they are very yellow.

I'm gonna get me some food now ;) No energy left for cooking! This is the mani I wore to my intake & workshop.

Simple classy job interview mani

Hi there!

I created a mani that you can wear to a job interview. I wore it to an intake appointment at a company. The Lieutenant helped a great deal. She picked the base colour, a pale pink, and that made me decide to go for roses on the accent nail. She also prepped me for the conversation. Thank you Lieutenant! 

I used one coat of Essence Studio Nails Pro White Rosé (because my natural nails are so yellow and the pink is not opaque enough) and 2 coats of Essence "Sweet as Candy". Then I painted the roses with a dotting tool and Bourjois "Fuchsia Bucolique", "Rose Cupcake" and some of the pink Essence polish. For the leaves, I used Essence "Upper Green Side" and an unnamed Etos green. 

That's it!
