With this mani I'd like to wish you a wonderful New Year's Eve and a sparkling bright start of 2019! I'm not going to party big, but I will be celebrating with friends. So I did my nails in honour of it.
Long time no blog... I even missed The Digit-al Dozen this month, due to too many things going on at the same time. I did however swatch this beauty by Ms. Sparkle and since it's available for pre-order as we speak, I figured I'd write this post! This is Ms. Sparkle's contribution to Hella Handmade Creations' December lineup - "The Magic Wand" - inspired by vintage toys:
So finally my last Digit-al Dozen post. Of course my favourite thing looking up is stars. So a starry mani could not be left out of the line-up! Plus, my friend gave me the plate with this image, so I really wanted to use it.
I'm continuing my Digit-al Dozen challenge today, 5 days late. Sorry about that! Anyways, we were looking up for this challenge, so I already covered a few subjects: airplanes, dandelions and my kick-ass lamp. Today I'm looking up at a cloudy sky across which birds are flying, a .
Quick post today, something from the vault. This is Essence Space Stories "Guardians of The Unicorn", a shimmery lilac purple with an intense teal shimmer.
Today I postpone my contribution to The Digit-al Dozen's Look Up challenge to write about this custom beauty "Kawaii", created by Ms. Sparkle for November's Hella Handmade Creations collection:
When I look up from my couch, I see my awesome new lamp. So for this month's "Look Up" challenge, it's the perfect inspiration! I remember walking into the hardware store for paint or brushes or whatever and being swept off my feet by this lamp. I had to have it. It consists of bronze triangles that form a icosahedron that in turn from some angles projects as a hexagon onto my retina and the lamp itself projects rhombus light patterns.
What else might one see when one looks up, besides me flying planes? Of course, the wonderful phenomenon of dandelion seeds parachuting through the air:
Long time no blog... I've been battling some kind of persistent fatigue lately, that doesn't seem to want to go away. Anyways, I'm back for this month's Digit-al Dozen challenge, which is all about what you see when you look up, so for this first instalment I commemorate the time that when one in the Rotterdam area looked up, one could have seen me actually flying an airplane! Oh yeah!
Hope you all had a lovely Halloween. Today a new month has started and that means a new round of Polish Pickup is near! Starting tomorrow, you'll be able to empty your wallet on all kinds of custom polishes inspired by bad-ass women, both real-life - from Dolly Parton to Ellen DeGeneres - and imaginary - from Éowyn to Khaleesi.
Since Halloween is on our doorstep, I'm going to try and do as many manis as I can (let's see how that goes...) The first features an abstract undead pirate design:
Sorry, I missed yesterday's post, had a work thing until late that had kept me busy for a couple of days. But today I'm back with my BAZINGA manicure, inspired by The Big Bang Theory!
It's after midnight here, it's been a day of averting/sorting out all kinds of other people's crises (sigh...), so I'm going to keep this short. One of my favourite shows at this moment is....
I think the title says it all; we're doing TV show inspired nails and my first mani is for Kimmy! I love how when I saw the first season for the second time, I got twice as many jokes as the first time. It's brilliant. Always pointing out all the silliness in our lives, I love that.
Time for part two of Ms. Sparkle's Fall collection. I showed you The Brights yesterday and today I have The Multichromes! Be aware, there's a gazillion pictures in this post.
Ms. Sparkle has come with a beautiful new Fall collection this year. It consists of six polishes that can be divvied up into two categories: multichromes and brights. I will start with the latter!
We've landed in October, thus it is time for another Hella Handmade Creations group custom from Ms. Sparkle! This particular Multi-faceted beauty is inspired by the artist Lisa Frank's vintage toys from Simone's childhood:
October's Polish Pickup Theme is "Villains". Super fun! Ms. Sparkle chose to base her polish on a beautiful evil creature from Alice in Wonderland: The Queen of Hearts:
I think I did not even blog yet, when I did this mani for my sister, but I posted it later in my 'Golden Oldies' genre. I always wanted to do it on myself, but never got around to do it, so this was a perfect excuse!
This month, The Digit-al Dozen's challenge theme is recreating our first blog posts. How fun! My first post however, was a snowflake mani and since I am still in denial about it being the end of summer, I decided to skip that one. For my first post I decided to celebrate my first milestone: The First Mani That Was Ever Shared On Social Media By Someone Else!
It's finally time for some more Incidental Twin Nail Polish swatches! I'm starting with the beautiful fall shade "I Am The Clock", which is based on the popular TV show 12 Monkeys.
Another month is about to start (where did time go, did we not JUST celebrate NYE?!), so another group custum for Hella Handmade Creations by Ms. Sparkle announces itself! This time the Trolls-inspired polish is based on Branch:
Recently there was a sale of Essence nail polishes, so I was permitted to buy a few! They're cheap when they're not on sale, let alone when it's a BOGO-situation! I felt the shades I chose would look gorgeous together, so I fashioned this:
I've been doing my family's nails a lot, but haven't been taking pictures that much... except for a few. Let's start with my sister's nails, on which I tried gel polish with nail art:
Tropical also means green and leaves, so I created this abstract inverted leafy mani. It was also an excellent excuse to use my new polish from France, that I picked up during my holiday!
The Digit-al Dozen does Tropical this month. Since we've had two heat waves here already, I'd say that's pretty appropriate! Plus, it's an excellent excuse for some fun designs. Now I don't think I've ever actually done a palm tree mani before, so here we go! I kept it really simple, it's easy to recreate:
I was on holiday, so this post is a bit late, but look at this fun creation by Ms. Sparkle for this month's Polish Pickup! The theme is 'Musicals' and Simone fashioned this quirky polish inspired by its namesake: 'The Muppet Show'.
Today is the last day of this month's Digit-al Dozen: In My Garden challenge! Now the best thing about my garden is the fact that it has loads of sunshine. It makes taking nail pics so much easier! Plus, actively absorbing solar radiation is one of my hobbies. The house I previously occupied had hardly any natural light and no garden whatsoever, so I'm very grateful for my new patch of bricks!
So besides bricks and one pink geranium, not much is going on in my garden presently, but I do get the occasional feline visitor. That's why this manicure, which is basically a recreation of Amber's awesome Krazy for Kitties manicure, fits the theme perfectly!
Yesterday I showed one of my dream gardens and today I present my actual garden. My actual garden is nothing but clinker bricks. However, one of my good friends gave me a geranium plant when I had just signed the lease, as an early housewarming present. It was the first thing of mine to be in the new house and later in the garden. It is still there! Therefore I dedicate this manicure to the geranium that pinks up my grey garden:
Still busy with my new house, which is why I completely forgot the start of this new challenge! However the moving did make me an actual garden-owner, which does make this challenge - In My Garden - more fun!
Luckily I had a mani in the vault from last challenge (where we were inspired by each other), which I didn't manage to post. It is quite fitting, since it depicts what my dream garden would look like! It is inspired by this wonderful manicure by Oksana - a.k.a. The Polished Koi.
On Wednesday we wear pink, so I took my inspiration for today from Kristy from Let's Begin Nails, who did a pink-black-grey-white plaid design. When I saw her design I found it so very cool! Mine came out very different (a bit too much black, ahem)...
I'm currently in the process of moving house and have been for the last few weeks, hence the lack of blogging... but I managed to get some manis done for this month's Digit-al Dozen challenge! We're being inspired by each other, so I randomly chose some of the other ladies manicures about which I felt I would be able to recreate.. starting with Marisa's - A.K.A. Polish Those Nails - happy clouds mani!
