The Digit-al Dozen: All That Glitters - Coarse Glitter

Hello lovelies!

So yesterday I did something with microglitter, so today is all about the big ones! Remember the day they invented triangle glitter (well at least polish-wise)? I do. Lumina Lacquer was one of the first to put it into polish and it was magical. I was mesmerised and was forced to order a few bottles because I couldn't get it out of my head anymore...

Here's my ode to triangle glitter:

Friends on Friday - Holiday Fun!

Hello lovelies!

Happy New Year! My new year's resolution is getting my blogging mojo back, so I'm starting with a Friends on Friday issue, since I love doing other people's nails so much!

During the holidays I brought my nail art supplies to my family and did my sister's and my friend's nails. I had brought all my cute holiday stamping plates, but had forgotten my stamper. I looked everywhere for a spare, but no such luck. So I had to get creative the old fashioned way!

I started out with something I had had in mind with Ms. Sparkle's new gorgeous polish "Yasuko" (swatches are on their way).

Pinky & Lacy

Hi lovelies!

I tried a super girly manicure today, with pink and lace and everything! And negative space. I love negative space. This is what it turned out to be:

#RedCoatTuesday with Cirque Madder & Reflektor

Hi lovelies!

Happy Red Coat Tuesday! I'm secretly crossing my fingers, hoping that they'll successfully drag out the story another season after this one ;) I just can't say goodbye to PLL yet!

Today I have a mani with some polishes that I accidentally purchased from prettypolish.nl. Oops! It was a Vday sale, so I made it my Vday present. Lol! I got Cirque Colours "Madder" and "Reflektor" and when I held them in my hands for the first time, I knew I had to combine them. Such beauties!

Half Moon Negative Space Stamping Holo Mani!

Hello lovelies!

Yes, that's right, I put half moons, negative space, stamping and holo in one manicure! I thought it would be a good idea. I had a job interview today and they know about my blogging. Social media knowledge is a strength for this position, so I put mine on my resumé! But then one has to show up with a good manicure, of course. So I decided intricate yet simple, classy yet flashy and this is what I came up with!

OPI Push and Shove nail art attempt

Hello lovelies,

I'm here again for a little. I had a party, so I required party nails. I decided to get my OPI "Push and Shove" from the Gwen Stefani collection finally out of the box and paint my nails with it. You probably read all kinds of reviews on this one, and know by now that you have to (HAVE TO) use the complimentary base coat "Lay Down That Base" first. So there I went:

Essence "Red Ahead" - swatch & manis!

Hey beauties!

So my Sugar Skulls won Essence's #expressyouressence contest! How awesome! In honour of Essence, I want to show you one of their new polishes: "Red Ahead".

I had really thought is was brown, and I guess it is a really deep maroon. Gorgeous.
Here it is.

Tutorial Tuesday: Essence "Me & My Ice Cream" Trend Edition Nail Art

Hello lovely lacquer lovers!

The new trend edition of Essence has just hit the stores, so I wanted to inspire you with some nail art! First a swatch of "Icylicious":

It is a really nice colour, but sadly not opaque in 2 coats. This is 3 coats, and still there are some spots where it has not quite leveled. Oh well, I still like it! The shimmer makes up for everything, once the sunlight hits it ;)

Now onto the nail art. I used "Ice Ice Baby" for the lilac:

Now here is the tutorial! Enjoy!

Peek-A-Blue!

Hey there!

Well of course I had to share yesterday's beauty with The Lieutenant! She had come up with a mani that optically lengthens her nails. Her nails are very short at the moment, so it was necessary ;-) Here goes!

First a layer of Essence "I love bad boys", then a good thick well-dabbed-on layer of Golden Rose Jolly Jewels no. 111 (which I will hereby name "Tropical Ocean") and then a layer of top coat. Let it dry completely and then tape off the middle to create the dark blue (Hema no. ) borders on the side. Sealed it in with 2 layers of top coat and done! The Lieutenant has aptly named this mani "Peek-A-Blue!" It looks great :) Now we are both wearing this beauty!

Gradient and glitter goodness

Hey hey!

Quick post;
So, on my right hand, I started out with the same ombre as for the butterfly, but didn't feel like trying to paint with my left hand, so I just did an ombre, adding some extra NYC "Revolving Red" on the tips (as in the previous post, it already had Catrice "Sing: Oh, Champs-Élysées" as a base, and then sponged on Essence "What do u think?" and "Fame Fatal", mixed with a little pink polish). Then I added Essence "It's just a little crush" over it, which gave it a frosty finish. The next day, I had been cleaning, so it had chipped. I decided to tape it with a glitter polish from Max:

That's it!
Soon you will learn from the Lieutenant how to make crazy braids in your hair :)

Greek Goddess

Hello!!

Sorry for posting nothing yesterday! I did manage to do my nails and my friend's nails, and I will show you hers tomorrow. These are mine, hers are even more stunning!

I did a saran wrap mani with Essence "Love's Recipe" and "Blues of Being Cool". After that dried completely (the next day, in my case ;) ), I did a tape mani with some Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours gold (211357):

It adds an extra chiqueness, and the marble and gold reminded me of greece and temples and stuff. So there it was, a Greek Goddess mani!

My friend got marbled too... Stay tuned for here nails tomorrow! If you can't wait, there's a sneak peak on instagram (@manismakeovers).

Glam up that Jungle! [retouch your mani]

Unfortunately, "In the Jungle, the Swirly Jungle" from yesterday started chipping after some household chores.. Since the mani had taken a lot of time and effort, I was reluctant to take it off... So I decided to glam it up! I did a diagonal tape mani with Rimmel "Black Out" and then added some big glitters from Essence "Mr. and Mrs. Glitter".
I only used top coat on the black part, to maintain the nice matte finish of the marble, creating an extra special effect. I was very pleased with how it turned out, especially since I was just making it up as I went ;)

So without further ado, I give you "Glam up that Jungle!"

What do you think?
