Neon on! - pt. 4

Hello lovelies!

Okay so this is going to be the last neon mani for a little while, because I'm trying to come to terms with this whole autumn concept. Oh well. One last day of denial with some neon paisley!

Fairy Teal

Hi lovelies!

A while ago, I was very much in the mood for teal. So I took out an untried - My Indie Polish "Skinny Dipping" and embellished it with M Polish "Star Flower":

Weekend Away Manis for me and my friends!

Hi lovelies!

So the season of taking weekend trips has begun. Not that I have many of them lined up, but I had one last weekend, a weekend away with the company I work for, to celebrate its 20-year anniversary! We went to Sneek, a little town in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands that is famous for its perfect lakes for sailing - which is exactly what we were going to do for team building, so I just HAD TO do a mani for that!

Pretty in Paisley

Hi lovelies!

A while ago, I did a manicure loosely inspired by my new shirt. Although the shirt is a bright flamingo-coralish pink, it has beautiful teal/turquoise patterns, with flowers and paisley. So I decided to do take the turquoise and the paisley to the manicure!

My base is two coats of Celestial Cosmetics "Celebrate with NYX", their celebratory 2nd birthday polish. This is just stunning. It is so bright, with so much linear holo, yet the holo doesn't even dull the colours in the shade. Perfectly concocted!

I stamped over it with BC-01. It is not the best quality stamping plate, the etching on this image is so fine that the stampers have a hard time picking up the image. But nontheless, it did the trick well enough. With all that sparkle underneath the image, nobody will notice ;)

What do you think? I wore this for two days, lol, which is very long for me.

Ms. Sparkle February Duo

Hello lovelies!

Sorry for having been MIA for a week, work was insane, fun, but insane! I hardly had time to sleep, not to mention the ridiculous amount of dishes that is still waiting for me in the kitchen. But yesterday I had some time to swatch, so I did, despite the crappy weather which made photographing kinda hard.

Last month I showed you Ms. Sparkle's fabulous January Duo and since February will start in mere hours, let's give it up for the February Birthstone/Star Sign Duo: Amethyst and Aquarius!

BPS Squishy Stamper, Green Stamping Polish & BP-L029

Hello lovelies!

Remember last night's sapphire beauty from Mod Lacquer? I decided to do a little stamping over it, since I had just received new stamping material from bornprettystore.com! I received 4 stamping polishes and their new super squishy stamper. So I put them up to the test, starting with the green one:

My Indie Polish "Someday My Spring Will Come"

Hello lovelies!

The last few weeks, there's been a lot of commotion in the indie polish community, because of the Mentality Nail Polish drama (if you don't know, just google it ;) ) I want to state that this incident is isolated to this brand only. It's really sad that a lot of people have been introduced to the whole concept of indie nail polish, through the news about the damaging MNPs and the horrific pictures of people's nails falling off and worse. I want to assure you that all polishes I show you here are safe. I've never had such an issue EVER. Nor have I ever heard of any other indie polish brand that caused such damage. So just to be clear: trust indie nail polish! (But avoid MNP from now on...)

Having said this, I have a very pretty from MyIndiePolish.com for you: "Someday, My Spring Will Come". A gorgeous bright teal shimmer silver square holo microglitter... It's stunning! Unfortunately, we've had a string of cloudy rainy days here, so I'll have to show it to you without direct sunlight... meaning it's even prettier IRL!

Hello lovelies!

Happy Independence Day to my American friends! I do not have a "traditional" 4th of July manicure for you, but it does contain red, white and blue (teal-blue, but blue nonetheless). This is Lucky 13 Lacquer "Now Wrath, Now Ruin and a Red Dawn":

Rimmel "Out of the Blue"

Hey there!

Here's a quick swatch of one of the nicest teals EVER!!! A teal creme by Rimmel called "Out of the Blue". Opaque in 2 coats, application flawless. (Taking it off was another tale entirely, but that is not strange for blue polishes).

Swatch-It Sunday: Catrice "Mermaid My Day" & "Miami pINK"

Hello lovelies!

Yes, finally, swatches from Catrice's new polishes "Mermaid My Day" and "Miami pINK"! Let's begin with "Mermaid My Day":

Veeeeery beautiful, easy application. This shimmery teal mani was obtained using 2 coats with top coat. For full opacity you might want to use 3 coats, but 2 was fine for me. Now Miami pINK:

Sooo sparkly! It is very special, with the shimmer and the glass flecks.. Super nice! Application is fine, though for opacity, again, 3 coats are needed. This is 2 coats with top coat.
I'm pleased with these, despite them not being very opaque. The application is easy and all evens out nicely, so that is a big step up from the spring line. I'll be wearing these again!

Swatch-It Sunday: Catrice "Petrolpolitan" and "Earnie & Birdy"

Hello!

Long time no blog, eh? Sorry about that! Have been very busy with our studies, me and the Lieutenant. But here are some Swatches from the new Catrice colours:

Flash:

Daylight:

Application was okay, not perfect, but it all evened out and became opaque after two coats, so it was good. I love the glass flecks in this one! Now onto Earnie & Birdy:

Daylight (unfortunately there was no sun :( ):

Application was kind of horrible. The polish is too gloopy and does not even out at all. Three coats and still not fully opaque; I was disappointed. It looked so amazing in the bottle! Summer yellow with blue and red glass flecks?! Amazing concept! Try again, Catrice, and it will be amazing. I mean, look at the bottle!

So overall I am in love with the colours, but disappointed by the quality. I hope they will be renewed soon!
