Hot pink pleasure and random skittle fun!

Hey beauties!

So last week there was a family gathering, and I did my cousin's nails. But as I was doing that, two ladies insisted on me doing theirs as well! Now I had not counted on that, and had only brought really bright colours (and not more than 10, which is NOT ENOUGH!), but they did not care. This is what happened:

For this I used "Aretha's R-E-S-P-I-N-K" from Catrice and a black striper. Now the other lady wanted all different nails, so this happened:

The caviar is from Max Make-Up, the blue is Miss Sporty 320, the red is Essence "Kiss on top of the Rock" with l'Oreal Confetti top coat. The pink is the one from Catrice again and the orange is Miss Sporty 323. I used a black and white striper and a dotting tool to add the art. It is a super fun mani, if I say so myself! Each nail is totally different, so I succeeded :D

Friends on Friday: Glitzy gradient, oh so radiant!

Hello dears!

Now I know it's Saturday, but who cares ;) My friend saw me with my Catrice "Mint me Up" nails and was mesmerized by the colour, so I told her I would do her nails too! She asked for a design with minimal texture (height differences annoyed her the last time I did a dotticure, even though she liked the way it looked, of course), so I decided to go for gradient, and a sparkly one at that! Since Mint Me Up contains a gold shimmer, next to the bronze flakies, I thought it made sense to go with gold:

I sponged up some gold from Miss Sporty and then topped that with some gold glitter from HEMA no. 03. Topcoat and done!

She made it last for days! Very nice :)

Puzzled

Hello lovelies!

The Lieutenant required a new mani, the Captain decided (she needed to paint). After seeing all these lovely autism awareness manis and seeing many puzzle pieces, I wanted to try it. The Lieutenant decided on the colour: red. She was feeling sexy ;) 

This is the result!

I used Bourjois "Rouge in Style" for the red, Essence "Shopping Trip in Soho" and "Little Miss Sunrise" for the pink and yellow, respectively. For the peach, I used the one from Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours. Then I took a black striper, to outline the puzzle pieces.

The puzzle pieces themselves were done by making 4 squares in different colours, and then taking a dotting tool and placing the connective pieces in all colours.

Swatch and nail art with the new Rimmel

Hello beauties!

Got a swatch of a  new Rimmel polish for you, together with a little simple nail art, that of course could not be omitted. This is Rimmel "Hot Chick" form their Fire Cracker Collection. In artificial light (below), it photographs very red, but in reality it has a pink undertone. Pomegranate coloured, I would say. It is a jelly polish and below there are 2 coats over a base coat:

It is a nice bright and catchy colour, that is very good for the upcoming summer. Below is a photo taken in daylight:

One can see that even though I used 2 coats here, one can still see some VNL (visible nail line), but that is not a big deal for me right now, since I want to do something to the tips anyway. If one were to wear it on itself, one would need 3 layers. The colour on its own does make me feel like fruit and sweets and it makes me hungry ;) . The polish applies really easily and it dries relatively fast. 

Here's the 'art' part:

I needed the blue. I thought it would enhance the brightness of the colour and it did. I just sort of freehanded this, since I didn't feel like taping. I used Miss Sporty nr. 320, and W7 silver to do this. The last picture shows the colour of "Hot Chick" best, I think.

This mani was nice and colourful an I enjoyed it a lot. What do you think?

ManiMania in Paris Part 2

Happy first day of the long Easter weekend!

Today I want to show you the nails I did for my Parisian friend <3

We did these at night, so we had time (although we had to wake up very early the next morning). This was not the first time I did her nails, and she is an excellent hand model. Her nails are fantastic: they are straight and big (but not too big, just big enough, if ya know what I mean ;) ). Her skin colour permits the most flashy colours and today I chose red (2 coats of Essence "Kiss on top of a rock"):

As you can see, I wanted to marble, so I did that with black (from Max) (mind you, I only had about 10 bottles with me, so there was not much choice). At one side of the nail, I made a gold line (with Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours). Then I took out my dotting tool (since I didn't have my actual one with me, I used a bobby pin and a toothpick) and created the gold and black lace motif. Then I added topcoat and prayed for it all not to smudge while sleeping. It worked! <3

(Update: One of our facebook followers has been so wonderful as to assign a name to the mani, she's brilliant: Moulin Rouge. Thank you <3)

I miss her dearly now. We had such a good time together in Paris! Thank you my sweetie!

New Essence Glitter Topper swatches

Hey hey!

So, Essence nail polish was on a discount at my local drugstore, so I picked up some glitters! I'd like to show yo two of them, and also my favourite Blue polish, that my second cousin gave me as a present :) Let's start with the blue:

This is Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours nr. 320. It's a fast-drying bright blue polish, with a broad rounded brush, that applies easily and only needs 2 thin coats for full opacity. 

Next there is the first Glitter: 

This is Essence "Glorious Aquarius", a sparkly blue glitter topper. It's not densely packed with glitters, but it's nice. There are blue and silver hexes and blue mini hexes in there. Application is somewhat difficult, because of the low density.

And here we have "Glitter on Me", densely packed this time, with silver holo micro glitters, and multicoloured stripes. Like a disco ball in a bottle! Application went smoothly, I'm very pleased with this one. I applied it over Glorious Aquarius, which are the blue hexes you see here and there.

Then I applied a milky white polish from HEMA, from their "wet look" series. This is the effect:

Likey likey! It's like a party! Suddenly one can see the hexes from Glorious Aquarius again, and combined with the multicoloured stripes, it's really nice! The blue isn't as bright anymore, it has been muted to a nice spring colour. But I still like it a lot. So is this what they call a sandwich?

I underwent a heavy case of tipwear, so I added a geometrical tip to the design, with Catrice "Pinky and the Brain" and a brush of which I clipped off most of the hairs:

I kinda liked it :)

Hestia

Hiiiii!

We're back with another goddess. It's Hestia, goddess of home and hearth. The first offering at every sacrifice in a household, went to her. Her symbol is, surprise, fire. Hence fire is on my nails now!

This picture was taken in diffuse daylight.

I started with a layer of Bourjois "Rouge in Style", and on the accent nail, I also applied one coat of W7 "Red Dazzle", as can be seen here:

Then I saran marbled with Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours gold. With my striper from Etos, I freehanded the outline of the flames on my accent nail, and since it is my right hand, that is shown here, I had to do it with my left (which still has Hygieia on it, with the pretty snake, that I just could NOT remove yet ;) ). I'm sorta proud of my left hand for drawing this while shaking BADLY! 

Then I added some more Red Dazzle to the accent nail, in the center of the flames, to make it more fiery!

And that's it :) We'll continue the Goddesses until the end of February (so Thursday) :)

Greek Goddess

Hello!!

Sorry for posting nothing yesterday! I did manage to do my nails and my friend's nails, and I will show you hers tomorrow. These are mine, hers are even more stunning!

I did a saran wrap mani with Essence "Love's Recipe" and "Blues of Being Cool". After that dried completely (the next day, in my case ;) ), I did a tape mani with some Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours gold (211357):

It adds an extra chiqueness, and the marble and gold reminded me of greece and temples and stuff. So there it was, a Greek Goddess mani!

Some Golden Oldies

We will now share some golden oldies :) If you have any questions regarding the design, please send an email or leave a comment and we will do our best to remember ;)

As you will see, many friends and family members happily volunteered their hands for our benefit, and we are endlessly grateful for that!

"Hoot hoot hoot, on my hand, not my foot!"

Based on the design of Let Them Have Polish. Saw it on facebook and had to immediately recreate it, so found one of our many sisters to be our victim. She loved it and created this pic for her instagram account and it got likes from strangers! The weirdest and most flattering phenomenon! Sort of made us think seriously about blogging...

Put a ribbon on it, with a flower on top 

One of our earliest designs (got it from YouTube a long, long time ago, but cannot find it anymore, so can't give credit). 

In fact, it is the first design The Captain ever tried on her Lieutenant (see upper pic), and the start of the tradition of a weekly mani :) 

The middle image is a friend who besides clear polish, never used to have anything on her nails! So we gave her some shock nail therapy and voilà! Took her about a day, but then she got used to it and loved it. Her coworkers approved as well (so happy!). Since then, she bought some polishes herself! And every now and then, Captain gets to try a new design :) Very happy with this willing mani-victim!

The lower pic also refers to a case of shock therapy ;) This friend had only worn nail polish once, on her 16th birthday, but was willing to let me go crazy! So I went for green ;) It looked awesome with her beautiful skin tone!!

Blooming Blossoms

One of our sisters was willing to sit through the first time Captain tried a Cherry Blossom nail design. Captain liked it and repeated it many times, hence the lower pic, another willing victim and Captain's friend since she was 3. 

Plaided nails

 Aha! Based on Cutepolish' design. This was fun! And a lot of work. The base is Essence "Jacob's Protection" from the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part II collection. The metallic stripes are Essence's striper "Metallic Grape". 

 Spot on!

Just a lot of dots :) Rimmel "Coralicious" and "Sky High" for the bases and Rimmel "Mystic Jade", Essence "Alpha Better Gamma" and a plain white.

 My Mosaic's got the blues

Couldn't decide which of these blues to try first, so it became a mosaic, like the name of the glitter polish from W7. The blue is from Miss Sporty, it was a gift from my second cousin, a nail polish lover herself. She shared with me her favourite colour and I'm so happy! The dark blue shimmer is Essence's "Jacob's Protection" again. Finished it off with a glitter striper.

Juicy Marble

 One of our sister's hands again :) She wanted nothing too much, just a touch. The coral is Essence "What do u think?" The marbling was done using Robin Moses' marbling without water technique. So what do u think?

Golden retro

Ah a very very old one! Based the design on the colours of the blouse and the watch that are shown with it.
