NYC Top of the Gold & A suitcase and a Donut

Hello dears!

Sorry for having been MIA for so long. I did a mani with two new New York Color shades last week, a pretty navy blue creme and a gold flakie topper. I finished it with some rhinestones and done!

"A suitcase and a Donut" is very pretty, but not easy to apply. It is only opaque in two coats if these are applied carefully and evenly. It is very liquid and runny. Top of the gold is however packed with flakies and one swift coat already results in this.

Tomorrow I have a whole swatch fest full of festive glitter. Stay tuned!

Rock Chick Love

Helloooo!

Last weekend, me and my sis did some hair dye shopping, and ran into a nail polish sale! I purchased these goodies:

They were half off! I needed some nail food, so I bought the Essie "nourish me". Sounds good. And Essie "blanc", good white polish is hard to find! Herome WIC "Sapporo", from the Mystic Japan collection was on my wish list for a while. And a backup L'Oreal Confetti and Max Factor "Fantasy Fire", you know, in case I run out (and those bottles are so ridiculously tiny, I'm already half-way my confetti!)

Anyways, my sister bought Essie "lovie dovie", a sweet as sugar pink polish, gorgeous. She immediately put it on her nails. She was wearing a rock chick outfit, so I decided to make her mani rock! I used some black rhinestones and black caviar and a dotting tool for this:

Silly French Tips

Another quicky post:

This was what I did when I was wearing my frankened polish Silly:

I applied matte top coat from HEMA onto the polish and then freehanded the tips with a black striper from Etos. On the ring fingers I added a starry rhinestone from Pink Tease.

Purple Marble Bling!

Dear followers,

A quicky post here! These are my friends nails, and we all want to give her an applause, because her nails are longer than ever! She is a nail biter, and she has restrained herself for weeks! So a nice mani is her reward:

I used Catrice "Purple Reign", Essence "Alpha Better Gamma" and "Break Through" and some saran wrap, to create this. Then I topped it off with some rhinestones from Primark.

Long Live The New King!

Hurray, hurray, hurray!!!

We have a new King! King Willem Alexander. Two hours ago, the Queen abdicated and The Crown Prince signed the document and became King. To celebrate this joyous occation, I have a mani with all the colours of our country:

I used Essence "Fame Fatal" for the red, Etos Long Lasting for the white, Hema no. 10 for the blue and Catrice "For Bright Guys" for the orange, topping it off with Hema "Glitter Coral". I braided the red-white-blue according to Cutepolish' tutorial. The orange nails are "royaled-up" with rhinestones from Primark, glitter from the "Fantastic Metallic" decoration kit of Essence, silver beads from W7 and pearly beads from Catrice's "Cotton Candy". First I placed the rhinestones in some top coat, then two glitters, and then I arranged the beads with a tiny dotting tool into the crown shape.

Athena

Whoohoo! Athena's here!

Athena, or Pallas Athena, goddess of wisdom and art and law and war strategy. The wise owl accompanies her on her many journeys.

With wisdom, my mind springs to blue. And being just and strategic screams silver to me :P So here it is!

I first started with a layer of Essence "Midnight Date". It is opaque in just one layer :D Well done Essence! And it's such a gorgeous colour... Bright blue, with a greenish shimmer (that sadly wouldn't be captured on camera). 

Then I saran marbled (for a video tutorial, check out Kat's most recent video!) with W7 "Silver".

It came out all gorgeous and shimmery :D Of course her favourite animal cannot be left out, so I used my pink striper of Janet to draw it on, and I used two little rhinestones from Essence for the eyes.

Skittle the Love

Hey  beauties!

I think this will be my last VDay mani for this year, since I'm kinda out of inspiration at the moment. I did a Valentine Skittle mani with lots of glitters on my own hands, since Kiss 'n Glitz had started chipping very soon.. Never an issue, as long as there is polish nearby! ;)

So there it is, Skittle the Love!

 The photos above were shot in artificial light, the picture below is taken in diffuse daylight.

From Thumb to pinky:

On the thumb, we have W7 "Cosmic Mauve", with kisses done with Rimmel "Black Out". 

Then we have W7 "Shirley Temple" with W7 magic beads, that I recently purchased. 

The middle finger is done with Essence "What do u think" that I got from a friend :) The glitters that form the heart are from the Essence's LE Vintage District nail decoration kit 02: "Designer for a Day".

(Have been waiting so long for it to finally come out! There are only tiny amounts of glitter and beads in there, but enough for a whole lot of manis, and since this stuff is somewhat hard to come by in here, I'm super grateful for this! It's not expensive either, as goes for all Essence's stuff <3 )

The ring finger is Rimmel "Diamond Dust" topped off with a fimo heart that I got from a nail art kit from Max & More called "Nail Paradise". I don't like half the things that are in there, but for this mani, the heart is ok. In that kit were also the rhinestones I used on my pinky, pressed down in a base of Bourjois "Rose Cupcake", and I doodled a heart with W7 Silver. 

That was fun! My nails sure are a happy bunch now :D

Fever Fingers

Hi!!

We  simply cannot get enough of Fantasy Fire, so we decided to try out a Valentine's mani with it. In case you feel all hot and steamy on Vday, we've got the perfect manicure to go with your mood ;) Lieutenant volunteered her fingers for this:

We used Rimmel "Black Out" as a base, and sponged on some Bourjois "Rouge Poppy" at the tips, creating a gradient effect, and then topped everything off with once coat of Max Factor "Fantasy Fire". This makes her nails look like smoldering embers, don't you think? To make it more valentiney, we added some heart-shaped rhinestones to the ring finger nails. Then we added topcoat to add extra shine and seal in the rhinestones.

Captain Sparrow's Party Boat

Sometimes, the main reason for buying a polish, is its name. And even though the lead role in this mani is a gorgeous colour, the name is even better. It's Catrice "Captain Sparrow's Boat". My Lieutenant and I found it during a shopping spree for 50ct discount polishes at a local drugstore. I think I was squeeing in the store, people must've thought I was losing it (and for a short moment, I probably was!)

One of my friends from highschool and I are super duper Pirates' fans, and I must admit that we have reenacted some scenes from the first movie more than once. I therefore kept the polish for one of our girls' nights out. And yesterday was the day (yay!)

The result is here:

I decided to tape some V-gaps. The pink is Bourjois "Fuchsia Bucolique" and the pewter metallic is Captain Sparrow's Boat. I added some rhinestones on her thumb and pinky.
We had a fun night out ;)

First Mani - Snow Glam

We thought to start of with the current mani, since it is very weather appropriate for the moment. It's a winter wonderland in Holland at the moment.

Love the design Captain! An excellent design that can actually last pretty long for those that can keep the stones on, since your nails growing out at the bottom will not be so noticeable because of the light color you use for the baselines ;)

You wanna briefly walk us through the steps?

Sure ;) 

First; the things needed for this design are a base coat, a light white-ish colour, a blue one, glitter polish, a white striper, glequins/chunky glitter polish and rhinestones.

I used Rimmel "Stronger" base coat, Essence "Ice crystals on my window" for the base colour, and "I love bad boys" from Essence for the blue, which I sponged on in two coats, creating a gradient effect. Then I added Etos Glitter Nails 003 (which has a purple, but very sheer base) to mimic snow falling. I used a white striper from the Etos Nail Art collection to draw on the snow flakes. For some snow flakes I added rhine stones to the hearts, for others I picked out a big glitter piece from Essence "Mr. and Mrs. Glitter" and placed it in the middle with a small dotting tool. Then I added two layers of topcoat to secure the design, and that's it!

You know what would be chic? Wear a nice fluffy sweater (white-ish, or blue-ish, or any color will suffice) with sleeves that come quite long, and just have these nails peek out. And then you have an irresistible snuggly-cutie look ;)

Haha, yes ;) Soooo, it's easy, but only with steady hands, which I rarely have (odd hobby I picked out then, eh?), but I managed okish. Excuse the dry skin and cuticles, with this weather it's very hard for me to keep them moisturized.
