This product was sent to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Hello lovelies!
This post is long overdue. I promised I'd write it ages ago, but since I wanted to put a lot of work in it, I never found the time. It's about one of the absolute necessities when it comes to indie polishes: Glitter Food.
Let's start with The Chunky Glitter Topper. This is Lumina Lacquer "Prismatic", two coats over OPI "I don't give a Rotterdam!". As you can see, it leaves you with very uneven nails.
This would take about 3 to 4 coats of regular top coat to completely smooth out, thus it is very hungry. Hence, we feed!
As you can see, one generous coat of this viscous wonder and it's completely smooth. Glitter food dries to a semi-matte, satin finish. You can leave it like that or apply a glossy top coat for a glamorous look:
See how there's no glitter protruding from the nail? Everything is smoothed out:
Another type of hungry glitter polish is The Chunky Glitter Jelly. This is is Delush Polish "Bling in the Good Cheer":
Without smoothing it out, it looks totally gross. One coat of my beloved Seche Vite won't sort this out, so we need to feed the glitter proper food! Look at this...
Look what happens after one coat of Glitter Food:
Completely smooth. Now I can leave it semi-matte or give it a glossy finish by applying SV:
Look at the beautiful depth you get after having smoothed everything out! Like a Hubble picture...
The third category of polishes for which Glitter Food is a must-have is The Chunky Glitter Crelly. Albeit less hungry than its Chunky family members, it is less forgiving in the sense that the creme base accentuates uneven parts even more. Therefore one might as well just take the easy way out and apply Glitter Food, instead of 2-3 coats of regular top coat. Below is My Indie Polish "Pride" before...
...and after, with glossy top coat as well:
Another Chunky Glitter Crelly example is LynBDesigns "Sprung"; before:
...and after:
I'm intensely grateful to Allison from Nail Pattern Boldness, not only for sending me the bottles but far and foremost for having created this product! It makes my life a lot easier and helps me get the best out of my swatches. I couldn't swatch members of the Chunky Glitter Family without having this to feed them.
